Erik's Alive! and Typing.

Hey all,

I've never been good with titles, so I'm sorry. Erik, I'm glad the online world is more accesible. I think we've all been busy. Just to update my life standings:

Laura and I are doing great.
I just had my 24th birthday on Jan. 27th. (I feel it.)
Laura bought me C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters" and the entire set of "The Chronicles of Narnia"--lots of reading to catch up on...
I've finally got the ball rolling on my third chapter.
I've also written a few more poems, as of late.
No interviews lately. (If you didn't know, OPB fell through)
I also turned down a Night Auditor Position at a Comfort Suites because the pay wasn't worth it.
I still work at the warehouse, as a "floater," and at SEI, as a High School Tutor.

There that's me. Oh, I have made many changes to the 2nd chapter, so if you want the updated draft just post your email and I will send it to you. I am almost finished with chapter 3.

Erik, I hope the Colorado slopes have more snow than Mt. Hood. It's pretty bad up here. Timberline is the only resort open, besides Mt. Bachelor, which is relatively far away. The weather has been overly nice, ergo, no snow. So, hit up some runs for me, I've only gone once.

Okay, I got to get to work on some stuff; weekend hours are scarce.

Later,

a triumfant return?

i realize my last post was somewhat abbreviated couldn't be helped. I have recently figured out how to get online on the computers we work on all day so have this chance to write a little longer.

I'm still hangin out in steamboat springs, likin it alot actually. the same cannot be said for my roomate/friend Pat, he moved out here with me from fargo, and really hated his job. then he got a call from the Red Lobster managers (where he used to work) and get this...they are flying him back to fargo, paying the rest of his lease, and giving him a 2 dollar raise. so he's outty five thousand on wednesday.

I haven't been writing too much these days. but i have been reading, a couple books on fly fishin, and mark twains conneticut yankee story. recently i've gone to some fluff just to take a break and read a short series by piers anthony, quite refreshing.

things are going good out here, i'm trainin for manager stuff, and already have a job for the summer working outside for a landscaping/construction comp. i'm looking at purchasing a condo out here...kinda getting sick of paying rent to fat white people.

Chris, when i get a chance I'll definetly read your story you're workin on, i just heard about it today. it sounds like you have some cool jobs in the wings, hope everything works out there.

Kris, are you done this spring or what? if not, how come? any plans for after the big G?

Sarah, i'm proud of you workin your ass off in iowa. I know you feel like you don't know what you're doing but one thing betsy said to me always stuck, she told me one day that there were a lot of people in her doctorate program who were not really that intelligent, and that the people who suceed are the ones who put forth the effort. i just hope when i get the itch to go back to school i can buckle down a little more than i did during my undergrad.

I also invited robert on the blog, i sent it to his hotmail account so i hope he is checking that one now. anyway hope to see him on one of these days.

alrighty guys, i'm glad i will be able to keep up with the blog now. talk to you all soon

Erik's Dead! and Happy New Year!

Sup everyone,

Erik, I certainly hope that you are not dead, but blog-wise, you certainly have flatlined. Although, I do know how tough it can be to get to a computer if one does not have the oh-so comfy and convenient access at home.

Kris, I am sorry there wasn't a caddy under the tree this year. The question is what color is the caddy of your dreams? I still have not had a chance to sit and go through your paper. I've been reading Graham Greene's "The Power and the Glory." I bought it for Capstone and we never got to it, so I finally picked it up. Oh that pitiful whiskey priest. Anyways, I am also editing one of my friends' Master's thesis, so that is chewing up some free time. I intend on diving into the world of Optimality later this week.

We should definitely get Robert on the blog. We simply need to reanimate Erik.

Sarah, are you dead too?

Christmas was good and relaxing, and different. No snow, no relatives. It was just Laura, Miko and me sitting by our roaring fire, (we have a fireplace). We got some gifts in the mail so we opened them and we also made a big ole fancy dinner; Shrimp and Asparagus pasta with a nice white sauce--made from scratch of course. Laura also made a cherry pie. Good times.

For New Years, we went to some friends' house and about 4 of us married couples hung out and played games and such. We played that new DVD game called "Scene It." The game is more dynamic than the commercials make it out to be. There are multiple categories, rather than the "what movie is this scene from?" I recommend it.

I have not heard back from OPB aka PBS. I am going to call them tomorrow to get the (bad) news. Not losing hope, I applied for a "Book Researcher" position with the Goodwill Bookstore stationed in Hillsboro, OR; I guess I would work in their Ebook Dept. I just sent my resume in yesterday (01/03/05). It pays slightly more than the Rite Aid warehouse job, plus it's not a warehouse job.

I've been brainstorming for Chapter 3 and also editing my 2nd chapter with the help of Kris' comments. ;-) And one more item to note, I just tutor now at SEI. I decided I couldn't handle planning the class, since the warehouse job ate up all my time and energy. So now, I mainly help high schoolers with their Algebra (lately Logs) and Chemistry. Sometimes I get lucky and help someone with their English assignments, but they rarely have the patience to work with me. Go figure.

Well, I feel as though I've blogged enough for now. Even though my last posting of my writing produced no response I shall post the third chapter when it is finished.

Have fun, be young, drink pepsi.

Happy New Year

I trust everyone had a helluva New Years and a blessinguva Christmas. (Yeah, I changed my adjective for your sake, Chris. Wouldn't want to create some type of terrible...what's the word...oxymoron. Yeah, that's it.)

Update on Robert's e-mail, Erik:
RobertWRogge@hotmail.com

The NDSU one that he had been using is set to expire. He graduated in the fall. I guess that qualifies him for Alumni Aspirations even more.

I worked the night of New Year's Eve. So, rather than bingeing on food, alcohol and a heinous countdown of numbers, I binged on letting deaf people tell their friends HAPPY NEW YEAR! ga For Christmas, I went home and saw my folks and brother (first time in ~six months). That's the event, there. (And where is my new Cadillac, damn it? What crumby presents I got!)

Because we all know that all I care about is mememe.

That one was for Erik, perhaps.

Sigo viviendo, friends. Nothing really much for me to update other than that. Sarah, are you livid? Chris, survive the holidays? Or did you eggnog yourself into a bowel-wrenching fit? (Yes, eggnog was just used as a verb.)
